Hey all! Well, I have been playing with my new camera. I finally, this Sunday, was able to make some photos just for me, just for the pure joy of it!!
I promised I would share (Greg - hehe) so here are a few for your viewing/critiquing. C&C away!! hehe
These are from our Sunday drive down the Natchez Trace, we were just North of Canton, Miss.
BTW - Why is it that 100kb seems so much smaller than it used to be?? I have always heard everyone say - is it 400x600 or 600x800? Either way these were still huge at those sizes... Am I missing something? lol
Thanks for looking! :bigthmb:

What's a swampy without a gator?

Swampy - too funny! Luckily, no gators - at least not when we were there. I really figure they don't hang around those parts, though... I hope...
Sweetlight - you have opened my eyes. I am going to have another look at this one before I have it printed. I like what you did. Thanks!
And thank you, Janet!
Ya'll know - RAW is really something! I never had a chance to play with landscape/environment photos in RAW before these - It is such a treat - much different from editing people photos in RAW - it is freeing. The only editing I did on these outside of Raw was cropping, resizing and adding the borders. Yep, I got's a new looove...hehe

1stlite... I'm not sure where Canton is, but here's a map of native habitat.

Yes, Swampy. I am aware that alligators live in Mississippi. We have some swamp land just north of town and some pretty big ones have come out of it. Heck, two were taken out of the drainage ditch that ran past the house I used to rent outside of town, and that was in the middle of a dry field! lol
What I was referring to is the "Cypress Swamp" off of the Natchez Trace north of Canton. It is a small area of water that was left over from when the Pearl River changed course. I am sure at some point an alligator or a few may come wandering over from the river.
I managed to get a couple shots of some geese the other day as well. Alas, I don't have the zoom on the 30D that I have on the old Panasonic, so I broke it out for those shots. We saw 5 turkeys in the same area, one group of three and then two more a little ways past where we saw the geese. I will go crop those for posting and let you guys play in the art forum ;)
