Thread repeated by accident!

Hi, :classic:

As any other professional here, I am trying to get some advice on buying a good scanner. What better place than this one.

Almost all the images I have retouched were uploaded directly from a digital camera card or previously scanned by a third party. I don't have that much experience scanning images and much less using scanners.

Would be possible for any of you to recommend some good scanners? It would be nice to have a list to choose from.

I would also like to know how to calibrate it so the color on the screen matches the output on paper. I know there have been threads with that info here but browsing through some of them some look general.

I'll be back to you on this one...the advice I've been given is buy a file/slide scanner like the Nikon coolscan if you want high end results. The 9000 series is tops but with a high end price. I've also been told that the Epson 700 flat bed does a great job for the price for the serious amateur.

I have heard the same thing about Epson. I have also read in this forums that Canon makes good ones though now sure why they make a just a few models. I had a scanner once, a long time ago, that I have never used. It was made by Mustek company. I have checked their site and they have a few that look reasonable and ok for amateurs.

I'd like to get the Nikon, but from everything I read and have been told the Epson V700 is great for the money...still, however, expensive.
