Been a few years since I last visited Porthmadog, last time we were staying in Beddgelert, which is not a million miles away.

Love the Blaenau-Ffestiniog railway, a train for which I can see in the background of one of your pictures. Looks like a Double Fairlie, which is quite a historic engine, being the first to use bogies as a way of mounting its wheels, enabling it to negotiate the tight bends on the railway.

You are right about the train( although i wouldnt know which one) i tried to get it in shot, we were standing opposite the station, Lovely area although we only visited there, we were at Harlech, if you have seen the other thread "window" that is shell island which you can see through the window, and the best part of the holiday was to see dolphins swimming in the bay :spchless: :pleased:

I too went for the watercolor look (adjustments, pattern stamp tool in Photoshop + adjustment in Painter).

Sorry Peter that you cant understand a word but that is as welsh as i get :lol: I like you image it has a charcoal feel to it

I dusted off Corel PhotoPaint 10 and tried the built-in Watercolor effect. Back to Photoshop for some edge definition, Hue/Saturation, Paint Engine and texture.

Ran across a Photoshop action ("Solarize on Steroids") I wrote quite some time ago. It really messes with colors, like it did on this one! :)

Thanks. You are right, it's a very good plugin. Just when I think it won't do something to an image that I want it to, I move a slider or tweak a brush size etc. and get a look I haven't seen before.

B.T.W. A new version of Gertrudis Pro, (MX), is in the works. Will be a good while before release, but am again on the beta team and am trying to get him to include a style similar to the SA style that I used on the boat image. Not sure if it will happen, but would be nice.

Whew! For a second there I thought you had gone to Mac on us and started using Studio Artist (a paint program to die for from what I've heard).

I like the far out version with the funky colors. Suits my mood right now. :)

Another try, Photoshop. impressionist.

I wanted to try this one too. I used the arctic selection in the Paint Engine plugin, added another layer, did a gradient (pink/green), textured w/sandstone, added layer mask to that layer, outlined important features w/dry towel brush, multiplied background layer, added another layer, filled w/white, used dry towel brush to reveal the parts I wanted to keep.

Line Art with color.

Wanted to try the 2nd picture too. Paint Engine in PSCS, texture, some overlays.

Thank you Pavel, I was quite surprised and happy with how it turned out. I never seem to know what anything's going to look like in the end. :)

Everyone has done really great renditions....many different looks all good!!!

I tried a water color with the AHB and adjusted the colors...color embossed a little in PDPRO and painted a border on!!!
