5. Peter S Janet Petty 04-25-2007, 09:43 AM Since I had trouble nailing the Dutch masters down to one specific style, it was hard to pick winners from that perspective. What I ended up doing is was picking from the ones that made me look more than twice. Kudos those with imaginations that led them to paste the head on an already painted masterpiece. I did not vote for you though. Sorry.

5. Northernshadow (who only beat out Keiser by a hair) Lorraine 04-25-2007, 10:07 AM Great entries everyone.
1. Lon K – Great work on everything. The texture is fantastic.
2. Cathy H -- Great painted look, nice texture and good color choices.
3. T. Paul – Another good painting job and choice of colors.
4. Cassidy -- Painted work looks very good. The colors could have been a little more vibrant in the lighter tones.
5. Cupcake – I love the light/dark balance, the hair strokes are great. Adding the flowers and changing the hair style put this one lower in my ratings, but it’s beautiful to look at.

5.Cassidy2 Doug Colwell 04-28-2007, 10:59 AM 1. Dkcoats - Looks very much like it belongs to the period, face painted nicely to match the rest (although a bit short on realism).
2. Gilbert - head scarf is a nice touch, everything painted same style, (although looks a bit too low and too close up)(style is more expressionism than realism).
3. MsSoftbrush - Not sure about the host painting and outfit matching the period, but the face and hair painting to me is best of the bunch (smooth, aged realism without canvas texture). Neck/scarf transition too fuzzy, and highlights on clothes look washed out.
4. Lonk - Striking and dramatic, but looks out of time and place - host painting seems to have different light source on b/g, and two very different painting techniques for head and the rest (1st submission was a closer match and would have rated higher).
5. Slidefoot - Way too tiny face. Chucking the frame would have helped, crop would've been better. Still, once zoomed in it's a very seemless and convincing match of colour, light and surface texture - could have been 1st if better proportioned to show your excellent work. oltenius 04-28-2007, 01:16 PM 1. Nice work everyone.
Cathy wooden_bender 04-29-2007, 12:09 PM 1) Lorraine - the skin tone, dress, and background just set this one apart from all the others
2) CathyH
3) lilsip
4) T Paul
5) keiser T Paul 04-30-2007, 03:42 PM Lorraine – Love the colors, especially the skin tone.
Lonk – Very nice composition and side lighting.
NorthernShadow – Lovely warm tones, but I would have like to see more of her face and less shadows.
Dkcoats – Another nice composition. Would have like to see a little more detail in the eyes.
CathyH - Not as painterly as the others, but lovely warm tones and use of light. T Paul 04-30-2007, 04:10 PM Voting is closed. T Paul 04-30-2007, 08:22 PM Congratulations LonK!
