Little Carlos (http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/2740/littlecxgt7.jpg) DCobb 03-31-2007, 10:46 PM Your original picture was printed on textured paper and that texture had to be removed. No problem of putting it back in if you like the look. I am not a retoucher so there are numerous quality issues that are present in this restoration, but this will give you a general idea of what a restoration might look like.

The single picture has been retexturized should you be curious as to how it would look. elohssa 04-01-2007, 11:05 AM Here's my try. s@lim 04-17-2007, 04:55 PM Hello,
Did somebody on this photograph, and I am very interessted to know how to deleate the texture of paper on this photographe ? Thank you. :ogre: Kraellin 04-17-2007, 08:37 PM hi salim and welcome to RP.
i'd be interested in knowing what dcobb used too.
there is a filter/plugin called FFT, which stands for Fast Fourier Transform, which can do a very good job of removing textures. there is also a program called image analyzer which has an FFT function built into it. there is also a variant of FFT called RGB FFT which is easier to use than the original FFT. i havent tried any of these on the posted image, but it's where i'd start if i were going to. DCobb 04-17-2007, 09:13 PM Just noticed the post. I did use the plugin called FFT, which stands for Fast Fourier Transform on the picture. I also have the Image Analyzer, but did not use it in this instance. I use CS2 and CS3 Beta and use a Wacom graphics tablet. I really appreciate this site as I am trying to improve my skills; however, I do this only as a hobby.
dc Kraellin 04-17-2007, 09:52 PM well, you did a nice job, dc :) DCobb 04-17-2007, 10:02 PM Craig, thank you for the kind remarks.
dc chillin 04-17-2007, 10:56 PM Very nice dc.
Here is my try wit FFT + neat image a bit + high pass filter a bit + sepia.
I didn't do any repair work... just checking the filter. s@lim 04-18-2007, 08:28 AM Thank's guy, great explanation for a great work ! s@lim 04-18-2007, 08:29 AM Tell me just one thing, where do I find this plugin (FTT) ? is it free or not ?
Thank's. DCobb 04-18-2007, 09:57 AM Try this site:

The filter is free and they have a tutorial. Also, RetouchPro has a tutorial. Just go to the tutorial section of this site. It was the RetouchPro tutorial that I used for the picture on this thread.
dc Gyurza 05-05-2007, 07:08 PM Sorry I wasnt able to re-ply to my post before
But thanks all of you for the Info and work on my Photo
I greatly apreciate that.
Thanks a lot. photocrazy 05-10-2007, 11:58 AM These are amazing examples of eliminating the grain -- I've been reading about the FFT in the tutorial and went to the web site and all. I've not ever used any plug in's, etc. Does anyone know if it would work with PSElements3? Got to save awhile more before CS3 ;-) Kraellin 05-10-2007, 11:16 PM FFT and FFT RGB shld work with any program that can run photoshop compatible plugins. so, it shld work with elements. |
