Looking for a good technique to emulate CS2's Lighting Effects filter but with more controls and ability to change shape, and intensity of light.
I love what the LE filter does but find it often limiting.

Read of the Mythical Light action and found a reference here on a very old thread ('03). Seems the poster was Bill Miller (Bill M)

Any help to find this or other actions to accomplish this?
I can make my own action if somebody has a technique you can describe.

Thanks much, Bob

Two plugins to investigate:
* AutoFX Mystical Lighting - http://www.autofx.com/mystical_lighting/mystical_lighting.html
* Digital Film Tools' Light - http://www.digitalfilmtools.com/light/

For a lot of various methods you might try googling something like:
photoshop tutorial lighting effects

Hope this gets you started.

Those effects are obviously very limited. The whole idea was simply to show that anything can be done without an expensive plugin if you can imagine it. I, too, find limited use for the LE filter, so if there is an effect you would like, tell us what it is. Either Danny will remember a thread or we'll invent something new for you.
