View Full Version : Request for examples of excellent work. Phiegze 04-06-2007, 10:08 PM Could as many of you good people as possible post links to what you think are examples of really good retouching?
I think it would be very informative for all of use - plus I told a would be restorer I would see what I could get together as prime examples.
Thanks in advance -
(this should be iteresting....) Swampy 04-07-2007, 09:26 AM John Steele, over on the NAPP forum has some excellent samples of his work in his portfolio.

I'd like to see ( and learn how to remove) paper textures.

I'd sure like to see more good examples if anybody has any handy. JayNads 04-08-2007, 09:50 AM Thanks Swampy!

I think some of my work is very good - I might not call it excellent, most of it was done as part of my learning process.

Sounds like restoration, but you're in the retouching forum. Phiegze 04-10-2007, 12:14 AM John Nadler - Yes - very good work. I am always awed by the ability to draw back in missing pieces and not just clone them in.
VEED - Yes I am looking for Restoration examples and I think this thread has been moved to restoration section- no?
Aside from needing to find good examples of restoration I can see that personally I am drawn more and more to B&W restorations; the good ones just intrigue me. darlanne 04-10-2007, 03:17 AM Here's my retouching/restoration site:

Darlanne -thank you as well.
MORE More more ........ Please anyone else have the thought that this guy is just fishing for examples that he can use as his work? there is a buttload of high end retouching examples out there. Why come here? next he'll be asking for high res images for download...
just a thought. Swampy 04-11-2007, 11:30 AM Ant...
He did say..
>> I think it would be very informative for all of use - plus I told a would be restorer I would see what I could get together as prime examples.
Mmmm think he might grab some examples from others works and put them in his portfolio?
Nawww. Couldn't be. Phiegze 04-12-2007, 12:37 AM Jeeze guys - you almost made ME barf!
What did I do to deserve that?
What's the dirtiest part of the body? Obviously it's the mind.
Besides that, if I were stealing images and weren't worried about the legal or moral issues I sure wouldn't have to ASK for them.
Anywhoo - If you can get over your suspicious natures and give a newby a break...
I once saw a wonderful example of a Civil War era Restoration done from an image in the Smithsonian. I believe I was used as a part of a restoration retouching contest. I remember seeing at least two version of it and the super duper excellent one was from a RetouchPro member ( I think)
If that rings a bell with anybody or that really great work was yours I'd sure love to see it again. Other than that I'm really getting hooked on B&W these days and think I will dedicate one printer to quadtone inkset. just a thought. calm down. keep it up and me thinks thou doth protest too much... Sorry if I seemed a little short. The forum seems to be getting hit by "drive by posters" who come in make one post almost demanding help or information, they get their info then, poof, they are gone. Some ask for explicit, step by step, help on very basic skills, don't bother to search the tutorials or read their manuals. Some of us try to help and get no feedback or even a thank you. Perhaps you can understand why we are "gun shy" Frank Lopes 04-12-2007, 07:27 AM I have done work with Civil War images that came from the Smithsonian.
I don't remember if I actually posted them here...
But you can check my website.

Wow - I'd never guess by looking at the "after" shots how much damage there was to the "before" pictures.
Thanks Phiegze 04-14-2007, 08:20 PM Here's two more that look pretty good to me.
