I took this photo of my friend who is a singer. She's pretty, but very plain.

I'm posting the original photo straight from the camera for all to have fun with. Just for fun....I'd love to see some dramatic retouches of her...I've already done a simple one as you can see below.

HIGH REZ PHOTO - have fun! (www.nycaviation.com/hosting/IMG_2769.jpg)

Gamut replacement, cloning, healing brush, and byro Degrunging to name a few. Sorry for the low quality due to compression. :)

Softened the skin a little, evened the skin tone, warmed the tone of the picture overall with a photo filter, cropped, repaired damage to windows, levels adjustment to create more contrast

I think your friend is very pretty, I wouldnt say she was plain, but I think she needs more practice in front of the camera to get more relaxed and natural, she looks a little bit like she's saying in her head 'please get this over with, I dont want my picture taken'

She's not plain at all! She just needs a cool hairdo to go with the gorgeous face imho. I might play around with the pic later if I don't get blown away by these storms coming through the southeast...

I'd be interested in knowing how you retouched that ruud. It's stunning.

Took out a few blemishes (there weren't many to start with), evened out hairline, minimized shadow in nostril, thickened eyelases, tried to fix the nervous smile, otherwise going for a fairly natural look (i.e. no facial features altered)

Hi.

I don’t think she is plain at all. She is very pretty.

This is Way OTT. But she is a singer. I was thinking of her Album cover.:)

Nothing plain about her, she beautiful...looks like the picture was taken in a train or bus hardly the best lighting.
Basically softened and added some saturation to her skin...filed out some more eyelashes..not much more...rest is pretty much her.

I had done two other versions also. Might as well throw em into the mix.

One is a BW version, and the other a desaturated approach. See what ya think.

I'm not going to do anything but I will say that this young lady is beautiful sans makeup, I can only imagine what she would look like after a visit to a parlor.

Just to clarify, I never said she wasn't pretty...I said she WAS pretty, just plain! ...and I only meant she was plain as in, she doesn't wear make-up, do her hair fancy, etc. But, I think she's gorgeous as well. :)

Hi
I think everyone has done a great job.
She was fun to work on, pretty and not to much wrong with her skin.
I did two versions, one more dramatic.

To begin with, I screwed up. I downloaded the small picture and when I had time I artified it, not realizing that this was only a retouch. So I apologize in advance.

Usually I'm a lurker, but I saw this great picture, and thought I'd give it a try! I actually have 3 versions, hope that's ok. :)

Well, don't lurk anymore! I like your third one. I like the makeup that you have applied. I also like that you tried to darken the background. That background really doesn't add anything to the picture.

Mellyrose, I like your original one too. I like that you have added depth of focus by blurring the background. Only one thing....I would have cropped it the other way so that the open space was in front of her.

I cropped that background out altogether so that I could get a larger focus on the main subject for my 100k and also because there is nothing in it that is particularly interesting. I cleaned up some of the stray hair on her shirt, cloned out that clip in front of the right collar. I liked the gap between her two front teeth so I left that but I decreased the size of her left nostril which looked out of proportion to the right one (I guess that was the camera angle). It is not a very flattering shot of her nose to be honest and I am sure she has a perfect nose :classic: but it is just that the camera is looking up at her and it has gotten a bit distorted. I also changed the catchlights in her eyes and brightened them up a bit.

Hi there,

I did something different, hope you like it ;) (in fact, corrected several details, as mouth, lips, teeth, and makeup, amongst others).
