either tale down the quality so it's under 100KB(rp only approve pictures that's under 100kb) or go to http://www.imageshack.us/ and give us the full link to the picture from that site...

How about something like this.
Used Shadow/Highlight in the opposite way than normal, then used Flaming Pears Kyoto Color for the rest.

Right I cant remember it all, but here goes.
In Shadow/Highlight I shifted the Shadow slider to zero. The Highlight slider to approx 50%. I did mess round with the tonal ranges and radius as well but can't recall the settings. Also slight adjustments to Colour correction & Midtone contrast. These were all to taste really, just have a play.
Kyoto colour, a freebie from flaming Pear, Just kept hitting Random settings till I got something I liked then just tweaked with the glue settings.
Maybe a final levels adjust.

Hope this helps.

Had to have a play with this, what a great shot.

First I upped the contrast a little, then created a new layer set to Soft Light and created a split gradient layer to darken the sky and beach but keep the horizon light.

New adjustment layer and de-saturated a little to give it that kind of washed out light you get just before a storm.

All this blew out some of the cloud detail, so I copied the original over the other layers and applied a mask all layer mask, then painted in the blown out sections, blurred the mask to hide the "joins".

Hi Gary,

I like Your picture very mutch, how colud You get that redish lightning on clouds, it' s effect of desaturate?

It happened automatically as a consequence of what I did, not too sure exactly what caused it. I think it's a combination of the de-saturation and the soft light gradient.

I work by eye mostly and kinda mess around with settings till I get the effect I want, so it's not always possible to reproduce exactly what I did again, but the general steps are as I posted earlier.

Glad you like it.

Here are my tries, to and extent this is what I did.

1. duplicate layer
2. created gradient fill purple - tan for sky and changed mode to saturation
3. created gradient fill tan-purple for beach and changed mode to saturation
3.hue/sat adjustment layer - inverted - brought back some of the color with white brush
4.level adjustment layer brought in more black
5. curves adjustment layer lightened and used black brush to bring out more white on clouds and boat.

did three different pictures with this same procedure, just with different settings.

what do you think?
