In a recent HPE newsletter, the following workflow is suggested:

A good workflow takes setup into account as well as image correction.


Calibrate your monitor, create an ICC profile, and make color management decisions
Store your original images safely
Evaluate the image (composition color and tone) to develop a list of things to correct (in steps 4-8)
Make general color and tone corrections
Make small damage corrections (dust, etc.)
Make composition changes (cropping, replacing, removing objects...other 'heroic' measures)
Make targeted color and tone corrections.
Add enhancements (soft-focus, sharpening, etc.)
Save the working/layered version of the working image
Save a purposed/final image for output/use


I'm curious where the Color Correct and Dynamic Images tools would come in this? Is that part of "general color and tone corrections" or "targeted...."? By "target" do you mean "in part of the image", as opposed to "general" meaning "the entire image?"

I would think that since cropping is likely to alter the nature of the image that something such as Dynamic Images would lead to a different result pre and post cropping.

Step 4, definitely. 'target' = part of the image. Cropping may have a minor effect on the color correction result, but it should be very minor as long as the cropping isn't severe...you'd be surprised at where light can reflect cak from so it is measured in a scene.
