I'm thinking about upgrading my current printer and am kind of looking at these 3.

1 - Epson 2400
2 - HP B9180
3 - Canon PixmaPro9000

I rarely print anything glossy, but I do print a bit of B&W. The price difference is not a factor, I am looking for quality. The only one I've seen prints from was the HP B9180 and the sample book of prints they had looked great. I've heard only good things about the Epson 2400, but haven't seen actual prints.

Any thoughts on one of these?

Thanks.

Of those 3 choices, I'd go with the HP B9180.

Fair or not, Epson's have a reputation for clogging up if not used on a regular basis, so if you print volume is low, that would be something on which to do further research. I believe the 2400 accomodates roll paper for panorama pics; the others do not.

The HP has been out for about six months and most of the bugs have been worked out, plus paper manufacturers are now shipping paper and providing profiles specifically for this printer. When I upgrade from my HP 8450, it will most likely be to a 9180.

If you're leaning toward Canon, according to their website the PixmaPRO 9500, another 13x19 printer, will be available May 2007. Canon print quality gets rave reviews, but paper choices are limited compared to HP and especially Epson if that's a consideration.

Good luck on your decision.

Thanks for the info. I don't do a high volume so that might be something more to look at with the 2400, plus it's been out a couple of years now. At the moment I'm kind of leaning toward the 9180, the prints were all 13x19 on various paper, color and B&W, and they all looked awesome.

I'd like to take a look at the Canon 9500 when it comes out and scratched the 9000 for this one. It sounds like a very nice printer also.

Thanks again for your recommendations. Decisions, desicions
