Hi, I am looking for different inkjet photo papers of good quality for printing my customer's restored photos. I have an Epson R2400 - so I can use up to 13" wide paper. I prefer using either pearl or semi-gloss papers.

I have been using Ilford's Galerie but my local retailer stopped carrying it. I would like to know as much techno info as possible - ie, durability, color saturation, etc.

Thanks for all info provided.

I've been buying ink and paper here for my 2400. No problems, fast delivery.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the info. Which papers do you use? Do you find any better than others? I'm looking for the best quality paper that can also replicate the era of the original photograph. I have used Ilford's Galerie and like it alot but I am always looking for other papers to use.

Thanks again,

Carol

Hi, oldphotogal,

Up until just this week, I've only used Epson's Enhanced Matte for my b/w restorations. I decided to give the Fine Art and the Lustre a try... received the paper but haven't printed with it yet. I'm waiting for two cartridges to go out of ink so I can replace them and give the papers a good test. There's quite a few that I want to try out, but I'll have wait until the next ink order :)

Let me know if there's a paper you particularly like for your b/w restorations.

Hi,

I've only recently taken delivery of my 2400, but so far I have had outstanding results with the Epson Premium Glossy paper.

What did surprise me was that with some Kodak Premium paper I had that worked wonderfully with my old HP, the R2400 gave absolutely dreadful banding. Under flourescent light this was awful.

Micro-banding though was present on the Epson papers if I had highspeed printing turned on.

Matthew.

I've found from experience that Epson printers in particular prefer Epson papers and the results with other brands is not usually very good.

The two names I hear most often for fine digital printing are Hahnemuehle and Arches

Thanks Sandra,

I have found that Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl prints well with the R2400. As long as I make sure I have the right ICC profile loaded, I get good results. I am looking for alternatives just in case I can't get the paper I usually use and also with shipping charges from some suppliers, I need to be able to diversify.
