Since I have worked on the photos of others while learning, thought I would provide one. Have fun!

Did I say I really liked this pic? [had to take a shot at it before going to dentist...] :)

Tools used...
* Photoshop
...resize image
...remove sail (top left)
...apply Impressionist and Akvis sketch plugins
...sharpening, cloning, color and tone adjustments, edges
* Corel Painter (Oil Pastels > Chunky Oil Pastel in clone mode)

---------------------

Thanks for the May 1 inspiration.

I had to have a try at this, and then one thing led to another.
I smudge painted the girl, and then I used a copy of the image and applied a ocean ripple filter to it and then used an mask to paint back in the smudge layer.
I'm not totally happy with the tail, but I like the idea.

Well, I decided to try my hand at a water color. I cannot remember all my steps. I guess I will have to start writing it down.

I was inspired by Danny's work and tried to follow footsteps, sort of...
Don't like the result, I'll have to try it again.

Feel I should be wearing sun glasses...
Hue and Sat adjust on original
"Paintered"
Copy and paste on original, blend overlay then blending in painter

Other than that, this is exceptional work, some of the best I've seen.

Don't like the result, I'll have to try it again.I like your results a LOT... much more than mine. Really. Great work esp. in the hair.

Thanks for the compliment danny....and of course you're correct about the teeth, they do resemble a set of dentures a bit..

What a pretty girl. Danny I love your interpretation. I have been trying out the AHB a little more lately. I think that they offer more than some of the other filters that I have.

Great photo. Did mine with Snap Art Pastel filter and Buzz Pro in Photoshop. Added new background. Drew in wispy hair by hand. Did several hue and saturation adjustments and several sharpening steps. Finished with selective smudging and cloning.

That's a winner, Chuck. A bit strong on the yellow for my taste, but I love the balance and dynamic of the composition.

Lonnie, I agree. The color is to strong. Here is a toned-down version.
