Hey everyone,
I work for an architectural/interior photographer and I do his Photoshop work. I want to expand my skills and get into retouching fashion and portraits. I know that type of retouching is a lot different from the type of retouching i use. I do a lot of clonning and cutting and pasting. Is there any tips that you can give me smoothing out the skin without loosing texture and getting accurate skin tonnes.

Thanks

Hi Dave...

Welcome to RetouchPRO.

If your objective is to soften wrinkles a bit, here's something to try...
* Duplicate Background
* Apply Noise > Dust & Scratches [blur it quite a bit] to the duplicated layer and change the layer blend mode from Normal to Lighten
* Layer > Add layer mask > Hide all (black mask)
* Choose Brush tool, turn on airbrush setting, Opacity ~25%, Flow ~ 35%
* Foreground color = white

Airbrushing white on the black layer mask over wrinkled skin areas should hide them w/o too much texture loss.

Is this more or less where you wanted to go? There are other methods for more severe wrinkle surgery.
