G Day,

First off all, sorry for my very bad/poor english, this will be my first try too ask something on a English/Americaan forum.
But I like this retouching forum very much, most off all the tutorials.
I watch the videotutorials from Radiantvista.com and Photowalktrough.com, every week.
But now my question, i whant tho reads a Color High Key like this http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=5442695 in Photoshop CS.
Maybe there is somewhan that will tell my how to reads this.
I am very pleased and thankfull if any whan will take some time and
patience for my.

Greetings from The Netherlands/Holland

Try a curves adjustment layer set to luminosity blending mode. You'll want a curve with a long toe and shoulder with a steep midtone. Keep an eye on your histogram to make sure you don't clip.

Thanks for you quick reply, but what do you mean with, long toe and shoulder with a steep midtone. i can't exactly translate this (sorry).

Already Thanks for your quick help.

The shape of the curve. A simple curve has a toe (the bottom part, or shadows) and a shoulder (the top part, or the highlights). A long shoulder will mean more midtones get mapped to the highlights. Similarly, a long toe will mean more midtones get mapped to the shadows. And a steep midtone will mean there is a very short midtone area (since most got mapped elsewhere). It makes more sense if you open curves and look at it.

Hio Doug, thanks for your explanition, but it's very difficult for my to imaginer what kind off curve you mean (sorry it's a bit stuppid from my).
Maybe you can show my a screenschot from the curvesdialogbox, if it's not to much asked.

Many thanks for your patience and help

There is no "recipe" to follow. Just use watch the preview as you adjust the curve. Perhaps this will help:
