Okay, I thought a quasi mini-challenge might be fun. Start with any of the following images and do something with it. Colorize, composit, creative mask, just have fun and please give us some idea of how you did it.

I used the shell to mask a frame of caladium leaves. I first had to use a black brush to close some gaps in the original shell that prevented me from making a contiguous wand selection outside the shell in order to delete the background.

I used blending modes and masks to colorize the sea scape using a sunset shot from another file.

A while ago I made a composit image that looked quite a bit like your seascape. So I just combined them and...

Cool Lonnie. Can you grab a copy of your layer's palette and edit/add it to your messge? It may help the noobies learn about blend modes and such.

Thanks Swampy.

(As far as your request, well, I don't use Photoshop, so it wouldn't be of much help.)

About 15 minutes work.

Select inside white portion, fill with 50% gray. Add noise filter, about 12%. With selection still selected add motion blur filter. Add a curves layer to add metallic look to the selected area. Add a hue/saturation layer to the selected area and drop the saturation some. Paint in a stucco background with the healing brush, add another hue/saturation layer set to colorize to add color. Add a white layer behind the background, and reduce the background opacity to lessen the intensity. Add a drop shadow, and its finished.

Dave! That is terriffic! Love your brushed metal work and the shadow adds the finishing touch.

I went a little nuts with this one. No excuses, just an experiment gone awry. Wasn't what I originally had in mind at all; but I sure enjoyed myself during the journey.

BTW, Dave, that is terrific! And LonK, gorgeous. Swampy superb as usual.

Janet...WOW, that's really cool. Love the colors and the composition!

I like that too, Janet. And I like your idea of combining two of Swampy's offerings. So, here's another one, which, like you, I'd be hard pressed to define all that was done. Let me just say there are quite a few layers (objects). The brushed metal (inspired by Dave's great effort) is by Alien Skin - Impact.

Lonnie... That is just fantastic. Excellent brushed brass/gold.

Here's a quick one.

On Swampy's suggestion, I've included one that looks like jade.

Thank you kindly, Swampy. What I had in mind at the start was like a silk screened scene on top of a brushed metal 'marquetry' type image. I think I came pretty close to that goal.

Gerry... Great job! You should do a version in Green so it looks like Jade! :-)

Palms: Love both of them. Glad you find use for the texture mapping. That Unicorn is wonderfully done!

Thanks. I'll try that.

I added the 'Jade' one to my previous entry.

Thanks Swampy. These all look great! Lonnie, I really like your second one. The contrast between the 2 is great.

I really like what you did Gerry. That Jade one looks really great.

Here's another one, I hope you don't mind that I added my own background.

Very clever, Dave. That's an OOM (Out Of Monitor), right?

lol. I hadn't thought of it that way, Lonnie, but yes.

Created this (http://img174.imageshack.us/img174/3218/clamtessgd6.png) tesselating pattern to create this wallpaper (http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/7272/clamwppc3.jpg). Attached is an extremely low quality crop of the wallpaper. :)

Had a play around making patterns, don't ask me for the layers, or come to that ask me what I did, I just played around till I liked the result.

Ikroll, love the texture feel. The design would make great wrapping paper!

Gary, What an interesting checker board pattern. Nice variation in the colors.
