Hey I recently checked out this photo on flickr and was wondering what steps you think it took to create the post processed look of this picture.

The owner states that it was from digital painting and that is indeed as it appears. More contrast has been added which could have been levels or curves. Then the clouds look like they have been brushed in place.

the bad thing with this picture is the halo around the threes...

She does say that the strange effect of the trees was from using shadow/highlight, then on her web page she mentions multiplicity, failing that maybe pwl

You can use my PWL actions at www.atncentral.com. Try painting in color.
Here is an old post from 2004

My trick I've always used to avoid halos...
Use Color Range shadows and highlights.

thanks for all the responses.. I ended up using multiple layers consisting of shadow/highlight adjustment layers.. a crossprocess curves preset and a bunch of other layers.. and painted where I wanted certain effects.. came out pretty well =)

sure, but I didnt do exactly what she did.. it was more of learning how to use layers to burn and dodge and using multiple layer effects to create a more dramatic effect like what she did.. I also did a bleach bypass to give it more of a mood.
