The theme for June was chosen by the winner of our May competition -- ScubaMargie

Photo Assignment: "The Wheel"

ScubaMargie's statement regarding the assignment: "I was thinking this month make it easy.

The topic i have chosen is The Wheel. Wheels are not just those things you put tires on though... they come in many different guises. There are cogs, gears, automotive wheels, old wheels, new wheels, water wheels...etc

Make your wheel interesting, try to find different or unusual varieties of wheels.

I hope that is a topic that allows everyone, everywhere to easily locate a subject... now go shoot it!"
Margie

Deadline for submitting your image: June 25th, 2007 (a Monday) at 11 pm PDT. (I added a few hours because I will be at work that evening and won't be available until late to close the thread - CJ )

The goal of this thread is to inspire more of us to grab our camera and actually use it. New photos are our goal, but we will accept recently photographed/recently processed images that fit the topic also.

If you can share, we'd love to hear when you shot the image, any shooting info you have (shutter speed, ISO, f-stop, filters used, post-processing (normal photo processing allowed - sharpening, adjust exposure -- this isn't the place for art filters [we have forums for that too!])

Feel free to add info about what/where you shot, and why you chose your subject/composition, etc. when you post your image in this thread.

What does the winner get? The winner gets to choose the next assignment PLUS gets all the nice accolades that come from being chosen "Winner".

Post your photo submissions in this thread, and we'll have the separate thread for discussion of this assignment and your comments regarding any of the entries that strike your fancy.

In keeping with the poll results, we'll try letting all RetouchPro members take part in the voting, whether they have submitted an entry or not.

Yes, this is a wheel. Or part of one as photographed :) . It is the wheel and innards of an old piece of farm equipment. I found it abandoned in a field near where I live. The colors were terrible, therefore the black and white.

Thanks ScubaMargie for the theme. This caused me no end of, "What shall I do?", as vehicles and wheels are among my favorite subject for abstractions. I enjoyed this very much!

Shot a while back for an assignment of Florida wildflowers. This is Indian Blanket, also known as "Fire WHEEL". A little tweak in interpretation but that's me bend 'em when I can.
Since photos was editorial, few alteration were made. Low sharpening, bit of saturation to add punch but that's about it. Sorry again about my absence, been trying to find a life again after the death of my mother. Feeling a bit better now. Namaste you all of you.

I was waiting for a clear day to take a few shots of this water wheel which was originally from a mine in the area. It was restored by year 9 and 10 school kids in the High school where it now stands.

Unfortunately, the clouds didn't want to lift to reveal a beautiful backdrop of snow covered mountains.

Taken with
Panasonic FZ-20
f 3.7
1/1000s
ISO 100.

Did a crop and levels adjustment.
