I'm trying to figure out which are the best monitors for photo work. I used to work at a professional photo lab and we used Lacie monitors because they were supposed to be the best in the industry. That was when CRT monitors were popular. LCD's were frowned upon because depending on the angle you were sitting was the color you could see on screen. I'm still leery of LCDs but know they're supposed to be better. Now that I have started my own business and am looking to upgrade my current monitor, I can't figure out if I should go with a LCD or not. I do callibrate my monitor because I do alot of work for professional photographers and want good accurate color. The Lacie monitors have gotten very pricey. I want to know what's being used in the graphics community.

20" Apple (LCD) display here. Do a lot of Photoshop and prepress.

Beware: most LCDs are very poor for graphics, however many are designed for it and rival CRTs easily.

Check out Viewsonic VP2030b. Designed for graphics work. 1000:1 contrast ratio, 178 degree viewing angle. Comes with excellent calibration s/w called Perfect Suite. Excellent performance at a good price.
