| View Full Version : Make the plane POP richardi734 06-17-2007, 09:49 AM How do you make this plane pop? 47304 Cassidy 06-17-2007, 10:29 AM Decided to have a go at this, duplicated the pic, desaturated the new layer and then did an equalise and set to overlay and reduced to 50% opacity. On a copy merged layer, ran a highpass and set to overlay mode. You could isolate the affect just to the plane with a mask Swampy 06-17-2007, 10:40 AM I extracted the plane, set a Curves AJ to really lighten it. Duped, High Pass to sharpen. On a background duplicate, I did a Lens correction vignette, and then a G blur. Made a gradient mask so the blur would not affect the foreground as much. If I had time, I probably would have replaced the ominous sky. Dave.Cox 06-17-2007, 09:39 PM Here is another look that I thought you might like. brightened the plane slightly and faded the background in the first one, and faded the background a little less in the second one, but desaturated it completely. Swampy 06-18-2007, 07:09 AM Or Ghost plane arphot 06-18-2007, 08:05 AM swampy, awesome effect. looks like the style they use to create faux-miniature images. Swampy 06-18-2007, 08:17 AM Thank you Arphot. :-) richardi734 06-18-2007, 11:40 AM I like that too Swampy. Just needs some prop motion blur. palms1 06-18-2007, 01:01 PM used a contrast mask, overlay blendmode and pwl nice one swampy :) Palms Dave.Cox 06-18-2007, 06:20 PM Ok Swampy, Now you've inspired me to mess around with this thing. :clown: Swampy 06-19-2007, 05:55 AM Dave... I must have been a great inspiration, cause your fleet of Cesnas is cool! Great job on the propeller motion blur! :-) chillin 06-19-2007, 08:48 AM Used "Mike W's 3D Painter.atn" richardi734 06-19-2007, 02:31 PM Ok Swampy, Now you've inspired me to mess around with this thing. :clown: Wow that is good Dave. Dave.Cox 06-19-2007, 05:47 PM Thanks Swampy. Yep, you are a wonderful inspiration. Thanks Richardi This one was a lot of fun. richardi734 06-19-2007, 11:13 PM Swampy it would be good to see your plane nose diving towards the ground with smoke coming from the engine. Dave how did you do it? Swampy 06-20-2007, 08:28 AM Richardi... Not my Cesna! No crash an burn for me. LOL LonK 06-20-2007, 12:31 PM ... it would be good to see plane nose diving towards the ground with smoke coming from the engine. Ask and ye shall receive! A fun play with my new Alien Skins plugins. steve_ski 06-20-2007, 01:43 PM Just applied a little curves in LAB and unsharp mask then a tighter crop. Dave.Cox 06-20-2007, 06:19 PM Hi Lonnie, I not really fond of crashing planes, but that sure is one heck of a mean looking state 5 sea! Looks great! LonK 06-20-2007, 07:00 PM Well, Dave, it was the OP's idea to crash and burn -- I just accommodated him! And yeah, I guess that could be the sea below, but I think it's actually a fantasy terra firma (ala Bryce). Anyway, that pilot is definitely having a bad day... even though his misfortune is visual candy for us onlookers! Thanks for the compliment. It was fun to make. Only took about an hour. 1999XLT 06-24-2007, 05:14 PM Just did a mild s-curve on this. |
