My first posting. I have been asked to restore this photo. I have ideas about how to do it, but would like to ask others opinions first as I am sure they are more efficient (and better)than mine. What would your workflow process be. I consider myself an above average user of Photoshop and Lightroom though far from expert. You can see the color shift from the left and right edges that were under the frame matting.
Thanks for any and all advice

Bernie

First was basic color correction in PS using a threshold layer over a 50% gray layer to find white black and midtone settings

second was getting rid of yellow stain. select background ( yeah, I know selection is cheesy but I am just trying techniques) desaturate and colorize. then boost and alter colors on bride

I'm not sure what you are asking? Workflow? Looks like you are doing pretty good. In your #3 above, the skin tones are really blown out.

Pick the cyan tone with color picker, and create new layer. Fill it with the cyan and invert selection. Check best blending mode (i used vivid light).
Then i used hue/saturation, selected skin tone, and moved the sliders till the tone looked ok.

New color layer for drapes coloration.

Desaturated whole image, adding layer mask (hide all) and painting dress and some other part that had red color tone.

Last but not least, i checked dictionary multiple times to get some sort of sense to my explanation. :D

Thanks
Swampy, yeah I know, I am just playing with some ideas in a quick sort of way to decide how to do it for real. Looking for a workflow or progression of steps in some sort of logical order. Want to fix first things first.

Zekeode, WOW, never would have thought of that one. will give it a try

OK, here is my test image. please pay no attention to masking details. I am just working on color right now. Will do the "real thing" tomorrow. Dress is a little pink but I think I have the idea figured out.
Thanks for the help
