i had a need to use the moire pattern removal filter in Photoshop cs2 yesterday and no matter what i did i could not get the 'ok' button to un-ghost. the filter would come up; i could change the 'angle' and other slider, but could not get the 'ok' button to unghost, and therefore couldnt use the filter. it's in the filters > noise menu items.

i looked all through the F1 help section and couldnt even find a reference to it. i looked in the paper manual that came with cs2 and nothing in there on it. i went onto the adobe site and couldnt find anything there either.

anyone got any clues here?

Craig, were you perhaps trying to do it on a background layer which is locked by default or had you perhaps locked the layer you were trying to apply the filter to. And I have CS2 but I don't have that filter or are you just giving an ordinary filter a fancy name?:wink:

ok, so you think i'm crazy. well, that's ok; half the time i think i am too. but in this case it turns out i'm not :)

here's a screenshot. i did have the name slightly wrong, but it is in filters > noise. and no, you can see it's not on a locked layer that i'm trying to apply this to.

oh, and i dont know if it was there or not before the last update. i have version 9.0.2, if that helps explain why i have it and some others maybe dont. though, i dont know that for sure.

anyways, here's the screenshot:

edit: and apparently adobe doesnt even know they have this. and as you can see, the 'ok' is ghosted and i cant figure out how to apply the thing. i can move the 'smoothness' slider and can change the angle just fine, but nothing i've done so far allows the 'ok' to be active. i can also cancel and see the example.

Well, That fileter must be coming from some third party software, cause my CS2 noise filter doesn't have a moire filter! I want one! I want one!!!

It is third-party and the reason the OK button is grayed-out is because you probably have a demo version that only allows you to preview the filter. The OK button is available once you activate the software.

Still think byRo's method is one of the best. I've tried the LAB method too, but had's off to byRo. Only wish I was half as smart as he is (would probably still be an Engineer if I was). :)

ok, that was it. it's the dvp eye fidelity le (lite edition) plugin. fooled me because it wasnt in the normal place i look for plugins. i put it over on Paint Shop Pro xi and it came up exactly as i'd seen it in Photoshop cs2. so, that's it.

I had to laugh Craig (Kraellin ) as I have that same filter and I wrote to the company asking how could I use a demo with no OK button, even the demo of the full has the same issue. The preview looks great but no way to accept. All I got back was an instruction PDF which still did not tell me how to use it with OK.

If anybody has this or has used it, what did you think. I found that it appears to have great potential.

The best manual method is to use LaB, I will try and add more details later.

and creeduk, did they tell you you had to register and get a key/code to unlock the filter(s)? also, what is your Lab method?
