Hey all, found this site today... Wish I had found it sooner.

Anyways, thought I'd post some of the stuff I've done.

The photo of the girl was the first time I had taken pictures of a person, also the first time retouching a person.

The face of the toy was 1/2" tall, printed 3.5" tall in a magazine ad. Had one day to come up with the idea, take the picture, and retouch the photo... Not great, but worked for a month atleast. Ignore the blank space... Thats where the info went.

The photo of the person with the dog was just something I wanted to work on, kind of playing with matte painting at the time.

I'm new to both retouching and photography. Used PhotoShop for a long time but for other other things. Be honest with the critiques, and if you see the repeats in the landscape photo feel free to tell me... I know where they are but got tired of working on the picture :)

As you can probably guess I'm no pro... Make enough each year to buy some camera gear and write off software upgrades but thats about it. Usually making websites, tech stuff, or digging holes :)

It's a bit difficult to critique the work you have posted. It would help a great deal if you gave us an idea of what you were trying to achieve, and perhaps, one image at a time.

In the first set, it looks like her teeth got duller in the after picture. Maybe you could brighten them up, or at least make them the way they were in the before shot.

The second set is great. Trying to repair a statue?

The third is good... but I don't understand why you wanted to extend the fence area though. I think the tree, boy and dog look good in the center.

I'm an amateur too, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. :)

Hello jbowersonline

i've looked at your photo here is my critique bare in mind i am a newbie too the 001.jpg i can't give you critique on photography as i am not a photographer but the retouching perhaps you could blur the pic slightly to give it a warm glow and soften the freckles the eyes look very nice quiet sharp and i like the amber colour of it. your 002.jpg is something you can get critique of from worth1000 i see alot of this type of photo effect there they are very good with helping newbie too perhaps you could visit their site i am not sure if i can give web address just pm me if you are interested about visiting worth1000, your 003.jpg again pro photographers can answer your question you have 3 different things going on here one retouching 2nd special effect and 3rd photographing but all in all keep your chin up and enjoy what you are doing whilst learning.

cheers
