Photo678 07-04-2007, 08:33 PM of course.....frampton, zeppelin, stones, etc etc..... Doug Nelson 07-04-2007, 09:09 PM Other faves: Camel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03kmoGQBisw Renaissance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-TQ_nnfhIg Jethro Tull http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toHlMD50eYY pixelzombie 07-04-2007, 09:09 PM i also enjoy classic rock, but a local station keeps playing the same songs over and over to the point i now have a hard time listening to such music... HroadhogD1 07-04-2007, 09:52 PM Rock and Roll is in my soul. Photo678 07-05-2007, 01:41 AM Other faves: Jethro Tull http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toHlMD50eYY ian anderson is still the man as far as i'm concerned....also hendrix, still such relevance today. Gary Richardson 07-05-2007, 04:27 AM Deep Purple Wishbone Ash Rainbow Jethro Tull Joe Walsh Iron Maiden Gary Moore Rory Gallagher Mountain Really there's too many good Rock bands from the 70s and 80s, I could go on for ages. The real question should have been, anyone got the names of any modern bands who can come even close to them ? If so I'd love to hear them, because most of the modern Rock entries I've heard are but pale imitations. palms1 07-05-2007, 05:29 AM The real question should have been, anyone got the names of any modern bands who can come even close to them ? Gary i asked my hubby what he thought ( big heavy rock fan ) but he couldnt come up with any new names of the same style (times have moved on ) Although we both love The Killers, and he likes the Keiser Chiefs did you watch any of Glastonbury ? He highly rated The Who's stint and of course no better way to look out for new bands Palms Photoshop he says you have missed out 10 years after Led zepplin Black sabbath etc :) ajcutler 07-05-2007, 06:29 AM Yep, and I'll add: Cream Doors Moody Blues Pink Floyd beatles2 07-05-2007, 07:16 AM Let us not forget the band of all bands, THE BEATLES. Britsdad 07-05-2007, 08:41 AM Love Moodey Blues.... I'll add Emerson Lake and Palmer, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Journey, Queen, Steely Dan, Styx, Boston and many more. Oh memories.......John pixelzombie 07-05-2007, 08:56 AM The real question should have been, anyone got the names of any modern bands who can come even close to them ? Godsmack Disturbed Tool The Tea Party Badlands Korn Dream Theater Gary Richardson 07-05-2007, 09:13 AM Godsmack Disturbed Tool The Tea Party Badlands Korn Dream Theater I'll have to look them up and have a listen, thanks for the names. summerz 07-05-2007, 09:27 AM Yes I am I Classic Rock fan, I also love my SIRIUS radio. They have a great variety of Classics. Britsdad 07-05-2007, 10:16 AM Oh, and an old band from Yorkshire.....Saxon. One of who's members was born and still lives just around the corner from me in Mexborough in an old semi, goes in my local pub, and nobody takes one blind bit of notice unless it's to say "how yer goin on?"....(nobody takes any notice of celebs round here  ) John palms1 07-05-2007, 11:03 AM Thank you for your list pixelzombie will pass it on Now if you have time take a look/listen to this video on Youtube it is The Killers doing a cover of Dire straits's Romeo and Juliet. Personaly i think it is great and shows the new can be almost as good as the old.( And yes there is only one Mark Knopfler ) http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=87cLyBR1JTo Palms pixelzombie 07-05-2007, 12:55 PM I'll have to look them up and have a listen, thanks for the names. you're more than welcome, Korn might be a bit heavy for most classic rock fans but they do make some good music...i suggest you start with Godsmack as they mix it up quite well...Dream Theater is a proggresive rock band, whereas the Tea Party combines rock with a world sound, i luv the way they combine middle eastern instruments within a rock context....Badlands is a blues based rock band.....Tool is all over the place, they remind me of a modern day pink floyd at times, albeit somewhat heavier and Disturbed truly has that modern rock sound... Gary Richardson 07-05-2007, 01:30 PM Sounds good. Fraid I'm gonna have to go the old fashioned way and buy a few albums, my connection isn't up to DLing tracks (I'm out in the sticks a bit and the 21st Century has passed us by). May be a while before I can let you know how I found them. pixelzombie 07-14-2007, 12:39 PM in that case, here are the cd's i recommend you start with first: Godsmack - Awake Tool - Aenima Tea Party - Transmission, and/or The Edges of Twilight Korn - Follow the Leader Disturbed - The Sickness Badlands - Voodoo Highway Dream Theater - Train of Thought and/or Images and Words beatles2 07-14-2007, 04:54 PM Palms thanks for the link, the killers did a great cover of the dire straights. they did the song justice.
