The Virginia Department of Transportation now plants over 500 acres of wildflowers along our Interstate and major highways (http://www.virginiadot.org/programs/prog-wflowr-faqs.asp ).

I took this shot along U. S. Rt. 360 east of Green Bay, VA July 3rd. Do you have any recommendations to help make it "pop"?

Thanks,

Barry

Typically, I when I see photos of flowers, I want them to be cheerful and inviting. I want to WANT to be there. I want the photos to be so rich with color and texture that you can almost imagine the smell of the flowers and what the air feels like in your hair. I don't really get that yet. I felt the overall tone of the photo was a little flat, so I'd like to see brightness and more depth of color overall. Try to remember what the colors really looked like, the flowers, but also the sky and the trees, then make your picture look like what you remember...

I did a quickie here... I felt the overall tone of the photo was a bit dark so I did a little paint with light using a curves adjustment layer with a layer mask to lighten up where I felt it needed to be. I also felt the colors needed a little enhancing. For the color enhancement I did this:

I added a hue/saturation layer with the following settings:
Master: Saturation +19, Lightness +4
Blues: Saturation +35

Probably needs more tweaking than I gave it...

I made a color correction in the LAB colorspace.
