I am no expert in nuclear power, but fusion reactors would be significantly cheaper (if this article is true!) and presumably produce less waste. You could have a fusion reactor in your car, just fill er up with nail polish!
I guess our need for oil would diminish.

While interesting, until the reported results can be reproduced by several independent labs, I am skeptical...there are other explinations for the observed result including insturment error, exuburance in interpretation of results, etc.,...still it would be a great leap forward for cheap clean electrical energy generation... hope there is something to it this time...Tom

Yes, it would be a big breakthrough if it's true but I think after that last fiasco you think they would have waited until they were sure before publicizing it.
