On my Utah jaunt this year, I had the opportunity to visit Canyonlands in eastern Utah. This lonely tree caught my eye.

P.S. I liked the BW version as my arty piece. So here tis.

Wish I could see this. I love solitary tree shots....
5-star photo, Janet. I thought I'd add some character to the sky before doing my painterly.

Janet, here is a 10 minute edit to black and white. First I selected and copied the sky to a new layer and lighten it a bunch. Then I used the channel mixer to convert to B and W. I used low red high blue and med green. Then I dodged the tree trunk and the deep shawdows in the rocks to pull out the details. Good shot by the way. Ony thing I might have done different is to get a tighter shot....

You mean like this...?
I liked the horizontal shot better. :) :) Great thing about art though, everyone likes something different. I'm glad you liked the tree and that you showed your version. Keep up the good work.

No,not really. I lke the landscape orientaion better. I just meant getting closer to the tree so its more the subject. Just my opinion though.

Excellent for dramatic black and white.
Janet, another interesting image!
Thank you, once again. :bigthmb:
All three channel images (RGB) are wonderful. I just couldn't choose one, so I used each one in turn.

Gosh, each of you are doing neat things to this image. I'm getting so many ideas for enhancement and for just playing.
Ro, I never would have thought to check the channels in color.
Can stand going to far...? Right on. I like the hypersaturated look.
The detail in the black and white, Michel, is impressive. I think I'm going to redo the one I have. Great job.
If I left any one (or two) persons out, forgive me. Unless I write down what ya'll did, by the time it comes to type up the comments, I've forgotten who did what.
