Can someone tip me on how people actually do this. (Black & white picture with only Jewelry in color)

I know how to color part of pictures using adobe Photoshop but to this level I don’t think is possible with the technique I am using or rather time consuming it is.

The attached pic is from a wedding album. I was amazed to see that 100’s of pictures were converted using this technique in just couple of days. Is there an easy way to do it? Is there special software these photographers use?

Thanks.

Saleem...

Duplicate your Background layer. Desaturate the duplicate to black and white. Then add a mask (white reveal all). Use a Black paint brush on the mask to paint back color from the underlying layer.

Using a graphics tablet and a graphics pen will give you better control and speed when working in small areas. Now I am aware that not all would agree with my statement, but it is my personal opinion.

The guy in the video uses the eraser tool, when he's go a layer mask...might be smarter to use the layer mask? That way, you would not end up with a big o'l gray spot on the stomach either ;)
