Not sure how I came up with this one, as I don't usually go for abstract pieces such as this.
I was inspired by the wall with its door frame, windows, and columns. I used the pen tool to isolate those features.
Then I went hunting for anything that struck my fancy. The ocean was a very simple merge using a layer mask to hide the top. The moon was tinted and slipped in behind the wall. The window scenes should look familiar to longtime Windows users. The galaxy peaking through the doorway was also done using a simple layer mask.
The couple in the foreground were extracted used a combo of pen and alpha channel then pasted twice, The second copy was filled with black, transformed, and had its opacity dropped to create the cast shadow.
Regards,
Michael
