Remember those cameras that produced an image in 30/60 seconds ... does any one know how well they restore ? I used to have one of these old cameras and found some of the prints today whilst I was looking for something else :)

I didn't explain myself very well, did I :blush:

The camera is long gone, but I came across the images and wondered if anyone knew of any problems that may occur with the images during scanning.

It kind of depends on the condition of your images. Scan them in an see what you have. Maybe post a sample here if you need help. You can't hurt them by just scanning them, so give it a shot.

The "old" Poliroid pictures are really prone to color decay over the years.

these are my thoughts and i have done a few of those..
there really no different than any other old photographic print..
You just scan them the way you scan your others....

and like with any photograhic print, some scanners, will have autocorrecting features and you may need to turn them off and manually adjust for best scan...... sometime these scanner autocorrecting features will over/under compensate ... for color,brightness and contrast ...
then after scanning then bring them into your phtoshops to make your repair of the scan..

Okay, I scanned one and this is the result (attached). It is rather hideous isn't it :grin:

Mind you, they would have to be close to 30 years old now, and I can't say that I took decent care of them. I don't know if I'll even bother trying to get anything decent out of them, they look really soft as well. I could say that it was because I didn't take it, but looking at some of the images that I obviously did take, they don't look a whole lot better.

This is my progress thus far. I still need to tidy up a lot of stuff, but I'm not sure it's possible to get any sharpness in there.

Give this a try and see if it helps. Copy bg layer 2 times and set both to screen mode. Bg copy 2 adj. opacity. Make a blank layer above bg copy2, hold down the ALT key go to the flyout men. to merge visible. Copy this layer. On the layer 1 copy,filter,other,highpass. Set the radius 2.0 pixels. Set the mode of this layer to linear light.

Thanks for giving this a shot. I've scanned some more of the images and they are all pretty much as soft as this one. Fortunately I don't have many of them.
