I am new to this website & also new to Photo shop except sum basic tool,i am attaching 2 images of a jewelery item, can sum1 give me guide line that how i can make these images look really good, so i can use it on websites & catalouge.
the camera i used to take photos is Sony DSC-F707,if sum1 can suggest me better camera or better way to take out more professional images, that will be much helpfull for me,

Sameer, you have a severe green cast. Either you are photographing under florescent lights of the White Balance setting on your camera is improperly set.
You would be better to correct that rather than trying to adjust each image in Photoshop. Your contrast and saturation settings are also set too low
I corrected the 1st image using by doing a Image > Adjust > Auto Color, then increased the contrast with a curve adjusstment, then increased saturation, and finally sharpened a little.
The image you uploaded was overly compressed and pixelated. You should be able to get much better results on a higher resolution file.

Dear Samir,

To use a image for website, you need high resolution images, but not very high resolution images. But for Catalogs, you need very high resolution images. If you consider retouching the image before using it in website or catalog, you should have very high resolution image for professional quality retouching. Most of the cameras generate TIFF images which is editable in Photoshop. Some latest cameras generate RAW files which is editable in only Photoshop CS2. But, I don't think you need that much high resolution.

To get the maximum utility from Photoshop, please convert the image into PSD, unless you want to use other software.

I have also corrected some color information on your picture showing light green color overlay. I have auto leveled the image and corrected following colors with Color Balance option:

Midtones:
Green = -5
Red = 5
Blue = -5

Shadow:
Red = -10
Blue = 5

Highlights
Blue = -5

However, to use jewelry images in website or catalog, you need to remove the whole background and extract the jewelry image. The best way to do that is by drawing clipping path around the image. However, we can help you with that, if you don't want to waste your time on that. Because, that's how we make our living.
