It's ironic, being a native Floridian, but I hate the ocean. I had the "Jaws" phobia when I was a toddler (long before the book or movie). I do like to walk on the beach much as these ladies are doing. Note that not one of them has on a bathing suit? LOL

I "funked" this up using Photoshop Facet filter about 15 or 20 times.

Are you sure we weren't at the same beach?

Nice "gritty" sandy feel, Michael.

Palms, that's nice, but have you ever considered adding some texture to your paint brushes? I'd love to see you step out of the box and funk it up. LOL

Couldn't beat you to this one Palms.

This one - Paint engine, Redfields++, Texture added, some messing with the colours and some sharpening.

Peter... the sun really adds a lot, but no reflections on the water? No shadows cast? Just being picky on a nice rendering.. :-)

Good points - I'll consider my wrist well and truly slapped.

I'll do better next time - Honest:)

Hi all,

Paint Shop Pro,
A little Buzz, then PP Styled Poster Art.

Reminds me a little of the holiday posters on the railways.

Cool capture Dee Dee. Sort of wanted to go with an Impressionist/Pointillistic like feel (which this scene reminds me of). Used GIMP's Cubism filter on a separate layer and set it to Dissolve with a lower Opacity and then did a lot of other things to get the result. :)

Swampy i am hurt and crushed ( not really) there was a bit of texture there and i did use a brush with some texture but i think i lost all of it when tweaking etc. but i do have a huge problem with texture i just dont get on with it, wether it be adding it or using a brush with some texture, but i will try and address it some, but dont hold your breath for too long

Palms, your art is always lovely, no doubt about it. I would hang any one of your renderings on my wall any time, but I think I was referring more to the broad body of your work. I would love to see you get wild, go crazy and do something really outside the box for "you". :-) I know you can do it. I see too much talent and ability in your work to think you can't get down and funky.

I esp. like your interpretation, Mitch. Ingenius combo of Buzz and the Pencil Pixels action. I was so inspired by your method that I started down that path myself, then got carried away in a different direction.

It was very convenient having that perfectly "horizontal" horizon thereby simplifying the task of splicing in the clouds.

Thanks, Dee Dee, for posting another "good one." :)

Have you got the impressionist plugin. If you have, you could try that on a blank layer filled with 50% grey and blend mode set to overlay. Run impressionist, set brush presure to zero, then got to the "Paper" selection bit and play about with the settings etc. Then fade the opacity of that layer to suit your tastes. You could also mask out parts to get an even better effect. You could also try Xero's "Tekstya" plugin, (its a freebie), for simple textures.

Thanks Palms - Though I still regard myself as being in the beginners class.

Thanks Danny, I forgot to state that i now run any pics through Noise Ninja before I do anything to them. I think it makes a difference.

Still working on the method.

Hi,,,,some layer masks various opacity boost saturation and some canvas texture.

Very nice, Issy. The color adjustments you've made really add a lot to the graphic.

I used Studio Artist cloners to get an impressionistic feel, then back to Photoshop to adjust color and add some color washes. I added some texure to finish it off.

Thanks Swampy. You always pick such nice photos to work with.

On this one I used the water color AHB in Photoshop for the base, then I used the chalk AHB to bring up detail. I then used Lucis Art Winslow filter for effect. I also used a Trimoon preset for paint texture on a new layer and then used overlay as the blending mode. Some hue and sat adjustments finished it off.

Juergen! Always great to see now folks playing along. Very nice water color. :-)

Cathy... That is lovely. I'll have to check out Steve's preset for painting texture. He always has such wonderful "new" techniques.

Juergen... You have to start somewhere and I think you did just fine. Heck, I can't draw a straight line on a piece of graph paper even if you give me ruler. I'm such a clutz.

This was such an interesting picture and I kind of had an idea of what I wanted my interpretation to look like, but, I'm not sure that I achieved it :). But, I sure had fun trying all kinds of different tools. Thanks for the fun Swampy!

Thanks Chillin,
I thought this would be a great Pointilist pic. (Thanks for the image Swampy.) And tried to progress from my previous method, but gave up when I reached the stage below. I'll have to wait for my ideas retreval system to reboot.
My own favourite is Casubi's first effort - great effect!

P.S. Relax - there are no enemies in Retouch Pro.
