Hi. I've just recieved a request to open up someone's eye's in photoshop- something I've never done before.

I tried searching old images for women in similar poses to steal the eyes from but nothing was really satisfactory.

I decided to use the eyes from the man next to her, and after tweaking for hours with the clone stamp, liquify tool, and burn and dodge this is my result.

however no matter how much I go in and tweak it it always seems a little off.
I can't get the 2 eyes to cooperate, to be balanced and to look in the same direction.

Can anyone offer any tips on painting in eyes to look natural?

Thank you very much

Hi there

The pose is fairly common...at lease the turn of her head. Since this is a Grayscale I would find a photo in one of the free picture sites and copy with a good feather and desaturate the eyes.

Then one at a time place in your photo and size and rotate as needed. Blur if necessary and adjust luminance and noise.

Finally when you place the eyes turn the layer on and off as in the gif below and check how they look.

hi thek,
I am just a novice... but maybe my comment is worth something... smile
Now butch did a great job on the eyes and there couple of things that attacted me his and i thought was missing on yours...
a. the white of the eyes, enough was added to one side to make visible and at the same time give the perception of where the gal was looking at...
b. I think also adding just a little bit of a glare on the iris or just to the side of the iris would help re inforce that perspective and add depth to the eye...
