Im looking for advice from Uk retouchers (london,manchester,leeds) who work in house, part of agencies or with a company.

I am currently in my second year of a photography degree and looking for a work placement for next year.

Could anyone give me any advice on agencies/companies to approach.

Im curious to know if its possible to get work placements within hi-end retouching agencies.

Is there anyone here involved who could help me out or give advice?

Would be great to talk to someone about this.

I think you first need some sort of portfolio site to show some work, before contacting any agencies.
Im not familiar with agencies in your country but I just happend to see a site with most impressing work, and they have some photo agency in the UK ( http://www.artwareindustry.com/ ).
The main site I saw was http://www.platinumfmd.com.br/ with some amazing retouching work.
