I'm not posting this for Kudos, just to share with my on-line retoucher buds and thank all the wonderfully talented people here who have certainly helped me to hone my skills. You guys are great! Any comments, positive or otherwise constructive are of course always welcome.
I was really please while perusing through Barns and Noble Book store here in Orange County, CA, to see my retouched image featured on the front cover of September issue of "Empowering Women", a national magazine which features the top direct sales company in th US.(FYI- I am not the photographer). I provide retouching for photographers, ad agencies, companies, etc, but this is my first national magazine cover! No, it is not Glamor or any international mag, but it is really a rewarding feeling to see your work displayed for sale on a news stand!!! How cool is that! Well the cover image used is actually a composite of four images, and of course each of those images had lots of tweaking. Like removing the leg of the chair from the center of the jewelry and putting it in a more appropriate place, to putting a belt on the woman in the chair which I took down to about 3/4 of the size of the original chair. As they say, "it doesn't have to be right, it just can't look wrong." I am also attaching the before/after image of what was used for the inside spread. They shot the women on a "Las Vegas" type curtain, boy was that a pain in the butt to mask out of their hair, jewelry , etc. The final image was also a composite using the best shot for each gal and jewelry. The only down-side for me was that once the images were sent off to Texas to be printed, that was the end of my control and I was not happy about the very overly saturated printing of the cover!!!! ARGGGGGG! BTW sorry for the obnoxious type across the attached images , but have spotted some of my work on other's site. Also, I was only charged with retouching the cover, inside spread, and TOC not any of the other images.
