Wonderful captures and thanks for the play Palms. Fantastic interpretations from you all as well. Thought of trying a sketch this time using S/H and Flaming Pear's Mr. Contrast as the base. The canvas was created with a blend of Kent's texture (from his latest Sketch action) and my own canvas that I like using via CS2's Texturizer filter. Attached is a lower quality crop. Here (http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/4355/aster2ik6.jpg)'s the complete rendering. :)

Thanks Peter love that silver feel to them, i think Steve has given me the cold shoulder

Dan thank you and that texture is great

lkroll nice sketch, seems everyone is going sketch mad lately including me
I have tried Kents sketch and charcoal Smudge on this one ( boy have them boys been busy lately and all great ) this one is the one for ps7

On the second image i went back to before the texture layer, duplicated, set the blendmode to multiply, used usm and saved

Palms-I hope I never stop learning. I've got years of work to do to get as good as you and the other people in this forum. I really appreciate the patience and kindness of those who reply.
If Steve is tired of flowers, I could post a frog.
My try at the flowers in the vase. I was trying (not too successfully) to get a Moire background. Any suggestions?

A FROG! Now why didn't Palms think of that. I'm great with frogs........at least I guess I am....don't recall having done one yet. And then I suppose it would depend on the species etc. :pleased:

Never did one of these, but what the heck.
Ran a action of mine that desaturated in a certain way using the Hue setting on the layer.
Made a low saturation mask and pushed color back in and placed the layer on top.
Used the same mask with a B/W adjustment layer to add contrast. Set the layer to overlay 100%.
Above the base layer I did some custom filter burring and sharpening.

Shattered Asters.

I was still playing around with this image and this came up. Couldn't resist sending it in.
With apologies to all the flower people out there.

No asters were harmed in the making of this picture. :)

Nice work, Chillin. I like the frame. Went to the site and discovered they were for Paint Shop Pro. Too bad they couldn't be used with CS3. I would have liked to be able to use a couple of them.

You could rename the extension to Paint Shop Pro, open in Paint Shop Pro & save as a psd.
You could download the Paint Shop Pro demo to do that or tell me which ones you want to be saved as psd's & I'll do it for you.

Hi Ikroll,

Glad you liked it saby. I used GIMP's Mosaic filter set to Grain Extract (separating the dark parts for the light using Mehdi's Fine Threshold filter). More details (and some additional samples) can be found here (http://www.innographx.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=106243#106243). The one that I did and liked the most thus far is here (http://www.innographx.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=106277#106277). :)

Phew you have all been busy, And I have only been away for a few days ! ! ! ! !

That is another good one Sharynideas the background is beautiful and i cant think of a way to improve it. And i say yes start a thread with a frog, after all halloween will be here soon, and i havent seen one posted before.

Dont worry Steve i have a taken a few non flower photo's that i will post soon :)

Mitch the clarity on the first one is super it looks really crisp and clean, will have to come back to your workflow on that one. The shattered one is excellent, unfortunately i did harm the asters they have now died and I will have to arrange a decent send of for them inviting Steve and Peter of course

Saby i like the look of yours may i ask how you did it ?

Peter that one is gorgeous love the colour and overall effect of it, reading through the posts i thought i would be able to work the toad link in, but you got there with that as well :depressed

GerryB your ahb interpretaion is superb it has a lovely softness to it, well done.

Cricket glad you did one of these now all i need to do is take a photo like it :)

Bcarl that is gorgeous ( i am fast running out of words here there ) I adore the softness of the flower heads, can you give us a brief run down of grushes used etc.

Chillin what can i say the overall effect is great the flowers have a look of what you would find in a victorian botanical book

lkroll i cant be bored with your lace binge as it is the first i have seen will have a look at the links you have posted later

Phew sorry for the length of this post, I know i am probaly biased but i think this is one of the best threads ever, the quality of work shown here is absolutely excellent and deserves a big pat on the back to all

I'm leaving on vacation in a few days and will be gone until next month. When I get back I'll have a look on that site again. If I can't get a copy of Paint Shop Pro I'll let you know what frames I'd like, if that's alright.

First effort, in Phot0shop CS3..layers, find edges, blur...I liked it well enough not to bother with texturing, but maybe that's the next step...
