i was working on an image where i had to smooth out some wrinkles on a glove and used d/b as i didn't want to lose the texture and also because of the way the subject was lit....when i got it to a certain point, i noticed that my d/b layer was the inverse of the areas i was trying to correct so i tried an experiment.....i duped the image layer and desaturated completely to remove all color and set the mode to overlay, the wrinkles in the glove were immediately less pronounced without any brushing at all, of course the rest of the image shifted as the values in the overlay area aren't all set to 128.....i'm sure someone else has thought of this, but i'm hoping someone can come up with a way to refine this even further from this point...i know there will still be some brushing involved but it seems to be feasible to use an image on itself in a d/b manner...
