Hi Everyone: I have not been here for ages. I am back to learning photoshop again and would like to ask this question. I would like to know if photoshop CS has a deform tool. I have used Paint Shop Pro and it has this tool in the program.

Here is what I am trying to do. I have a photo I need to fit into a template. It is a little off. Now in Paint Shop Pro I could use the deform tool and pull it to fit. Do I have that function in Photoshop. The picture is just a tad off, you can see a very very small portion of the area where the photo goes.

Thanks for any help on this. Neb

Welcome back Neb. In Photoshop you have the Filter>Liquify which will pull, distort, swirl, bloat etc. There is also Edit > Transform > Warp or under the same Edit>Transform menu you have Perspective, skew, and a bunch of others. One of these will no doubt accomplish you goal.

Hi Neb, nice to see you back.

As Murray says, there's a whole mass of tools in Photoshop to accomplish what you're wishing to do.

Have fun playing with them.

Thank You Murray and Gary:
So nice to see you are both hanging out here and helping people. Well now I have some more tools to practice with? Which one do either of you recommend to maybe stretch a photo to fit an area ? It only needs just a tiny pull to fit? Thanks Again to you both. Neb

Personally if you're just "stretching" it a little I'd use the Move tool.

Copy pic to a new layer.

Now use Move Tool, click on one of the handles and pull it to fit. You will of course get some distortion, but provided it's only a v small stretch it shouldn't be over noticeable.

Neb, for what you describe I usually use Warp. If you upload an example of an image , we can recommend which tool would be most effective.

Can not upload the image , do not have permission to do so . Making some trader cards for samples to show parents. How do you use the free transform command and where is it in the tool palette? Thanks Nebgranny

Neb, it is not in the Tool Bar but is under the Edit Menu. Edit > Free Transform. In order for the function to be enabled, you need to make a selection first. Sometimes the success of your pulling, stretching, or skewing will depend on the size of the selection you make. Without seeing your image, I can only suggest you experiment a bit with the area you select.

Neb

I found out how to do it- I to was a little rusty, you need to use the move tool that is correct, you also need to click the little box at the top- where file and stuff is

Its called Show Bounding and the box says "show bounding box"- if you click that once you've selected the layer you want to enlarge- you will be able to drag the corners like mentioned above- hope this has helped you- your post helped me find the answer!

thanks!
