According to Shutterfly at 320*240 is 97 KB and it says that it has to be 100 KB or less.

Much better. I gave it a shot at the smaller size, though. Just selected the young man and put a background behind him that graduates from the green of the lawn to the gray of the building.

This, of course, is incorrect. Pixel dimension and file size are not directly related. File size is determined primarily by image format: TIF, BMP, GIF, JPEG, etc., some of which use adjustable compression algorithms that will result in file sizes that can vary greatly. An 800*600px image saved as JPEG with moderate compression can generally easily fit the file size limit here at RetouchPRO (100KB) and still retain adequate quality for the purposes of this forum.

Maybe a different location.

I removed the background by selecting the young man and placing him on a new layer. The selection can be done with the Lasso Tool. Since I am not familiar with Paint Shop Pro, I found a tutorial, which explains the process very nicely. It even goes into masking, which is not necessary in this case.

Once the selection was done, I placed a new, blank layer underneath and filled it with a gradient, using the colors of the grass and the building. Of course, the new background can be anything. You could even go back and re-shoot the building when there are no people present and use it as background.

I only half blurred and desaturated the background. Tighter crop, degrunge and adjusting skin color got to my take, below.
