Apologies to all for my earlier postings...
Here are my before and after shots of a recent hair shoot. I have been a photographer for a number of years, but only recently started to use photoshop.
I'd be grateful for your thoughts, comments and guidance.
Many thanks
Andy

Nice technical work on the skin retouching, shadow emphasis, splicing in the background, scalp toning, added contrast of hair design. Quite impressive work for a PS newbie.
How did the sky BG come about: Your decision or that of the client?

My main concern is with the highlight down the left side of the guy's neck (as we look at it), this is not consistent with the light source (above right).
You might want to darken it, or even clone over it if necessary.

Hi Danny
thanks for the comments. The sky bgnd was following initial discussion with the client. original thoughts were a mud hut wall, the African Savannah or some such thing, he liked the suggestion of a moody sky. My first attempt was to do this with a sepia feel, but I loved the idea of a colour sky, that mix of hope and optimism yet still retaining that brooding melancholy.
Hi Gary
Fair cop!!
I see what you mean about the highlight, In my defence the principal photography was done prior to selecting a bgnd, so I was hedging my bets a bit with the direction of the light. When I got to retouch I kind've convinced myself that the light could wrap around like that!
I'll knock it back a bit as you suggest.
Thanks both
