Hi all, 1st post here all though I've delved into the forums on occasions. Very informative!

Hopefully somebody can help me. I am a (6yr) pro retoucher and have just been given a new challenge. I need to create a snowy scene outside a modern shop front - imagine a high street fashion brand retailer. I can handle the falling snow without to much of a problem but finding it difficult to make the snow on the ground look realistic. I can montage a few snow shots to give it the overall white look but it lacks realness. Just wondering if anybody has dealt with this kind of thing before at a high end level. If so do you have any tips please!

I'm shootin' in the dark here since as a hobbiest I don't do this type of serious work...

Is searching stock photo sites like www.GettyImages (http://www.GettyImages) for candidate images with suitable parts to select, copy/paste and splice via layer masks a possibility?

We did have a thread quite some time back where someone had posted an excellent post on converting a summer view of a house into a winter scene, including a link to an offsite tutorial, but I can't lay my fingers on it at the moment.

I'll try searching again and post back if I find it.

been experimenting with light snow on ground on sceneries,,,, been using a tutorial from russel brown called frosty freeze that might might help you...

my difficulty is creating piled snow like alittle snow drifts or accumulated snow on a roof or tree...

If you want real snow, you'll have to paste in some other real snowpictures, and make it look real.
All the rest will only look real in webformat.
