View Full Version : Human Torch... JamesEssex 02-06-2006, 09:05 AM Hey Everyone
There are so many talented people on here. I love getting advice from you all!
So, here is a picture of me. I was trying to turn myself into the 'Human Torch' from Fantastic 4!! Trying to learn how to use layers etc and build up a life like effect!
I think its come out quite realistic but can anyone offer any suggestions or play around with it to mkae it look more realisitic?
Cheers
J Swampy 02-06-2006, 11:48 AM Ouch!!! :-)
The hand looks too big in proportion to your body to me and the claw like extended fingernails are distracting. Fire color is good. JamesEssex 02-06-2006, 11:53 AM Gaaahh, that is my actual hand :scared:
I just covered it with flames! Lol, oh no, I have a giant hand! NancyJ 02-06-2006, 12:07 PM The flames have added significan visual size to your arm (dont worry, you're not a freak)
For aesthetics(I have no idea what it would actually look like to set your arm on fire ;)) I would go with larger, more slender flames, yours are very small and appear almost furry.

I was using that picture as a reference but gave up when I was unable to get slender flames!!
I think thats my main problem, I get a little impatient and give up and settle for the results! Oooopsy Kraellin 02-06-2006, 01:29 PM here's just one tip to go with what the others have said; remember, if your hand were really on fire here, there would be almost NO shadow, since the flame would be on ALL sides of your hand and casting light as well. hence the shadow would be significantly reduced if not gone altogether.
flame on, baby!
craig JamesEssex 02-06-2006, 01:38 PM duh! I'm such a goof at times, of course! Darn it, now I gotta try and take the shad ow out too as well as make my hand less fluffy and smaller!
Gaah
I will Flame on baby ;-) Peter S 02-06-2006, 02:30 PM Not bad - but shouldn't you be sweating a little???????? JamesEssex 02-06-2006, 02:32 PM Flame boy doesn't sweat. Thats yet another plus of being a super hero ;-) Kraellin 02-06-2006, 02:53 PM hehehe. i can understand no sweat, but your blood alchohol content must be out the roof ;)
craig Alien Skin has a filter called fire. I love what it can do. Don't know how well it worked out in this pic, but it can make pretty realistic effects. Here's a five minute job I tried with it and the plugin.
