Here is an old International Harvester truck for your painting pleasure. I wish I'd been able to back up a bit further and face the truck into the picture. On the other hand, the building on the other side of the truck was not the greatest. Nevertheless, enjoy.

What a great truck, Janet! Thanks for the play!

Photoshop and History Brush. I used a bristle style brush. Before setting the history state, I used surface blur to muck up the pixels (on a dupe of the background) also added a little dry brush filter.

After painting with history, I duped the history layer, desaturated the dupe and set for soft light. Merge stamped history and desat layers, added HSB adjustment.

Saved out the desaturated layer as a texture map (copy/past all into a new Photoshop document then save as a PSD file to the desktop). Used the texture map on the stampped layer (Texturizer>Load Texture>map.psd) and set the scale for 100% and tweaked the brightness. This applied the 3D look to the brush strokes.

Well, this is my first post. I jumped into this without seeing it was the photo-based art forum (it was on the recent threads).

I originally wanted to show the truck zooming by the house, so I created a motion blur. I created a radial blur on the tires. I added a driver.

Right before I went to post, I noticed what forum I was in, so I used the angled strokes filter.

Nothing too fancy...

Nothing too fancy...? Maybe not, but well done, TM! Like the way you added the driver! :-) Welcome to RetouchPRO and have fun!

I often get flamed for some of my offbeat expressions. But in this case, I'm going to just say, "COOL BEANS, folks. Great interpretations Swampy and TM."

And a hearty welcome to you TM (not to be confused by Trimoon). You did a fine job.

Oltenius and Gerry, both of you have such different approaches. Just goes to show how versatile art is. I like both of them. Keep up the good work.

Since I haven't had time to play for some time now, and nobody else had done a sketch, thought I'd do one.

When informed when this truck was built my daughter observed, "Wow, Daddy. You're older than it is!" (Yeah, yeah, yeah...How sad is THAT?)

Wonderful pic anyway, Janet. :)

Used a Photoshop action for auto placement of images in 2 columns/3 rows, followed by some fooling around with adjustment layers for variety -- about 5 minutes work.

Sad, but typical. Welcome to the club. Wanna count gray hairs with me? I'll bet I have more than you do. :)

I like the creative showcase you built here. I'm especially interested in the halftone rendition. I can't ever seem to get that filter to work properly. What settings did you use? I can see all sorts of applications for that one.

Palms... Here's a trick for rendering a halftone.

1. Image > Size > 200% (Constrain Proportions)
2. Sketch > Halftone Pattern
3. Image > Size > 50% (Constrain Proportions)

Play with this and see what ya get.

JanetUsing Image > Image size I increased resolution from 72 ppi to 144 ppi. With FG/BG colors = Black/White, Sketch > Halftone Pattern was applied with Size=3, Contrast=8 and Pattern=Dot, applied automatically via the action. Settings for this effect are definitely resolution and length/width dependent. Lucky guess in this case.

I'll bet you don't! :)

A belated welcome to TangentMemory. "Art" takes on many forums and we're pretty flexible here.

Welcome aboard and jump in anytime.

This version: This is what happens when you start messing around with BW conversions and layer blend modes -- and lose track of "How I got here." :)

Cool truck, Janet. I thought I'd move it to a more harmonious setting.
