How do I do this? :blush:

Since the closest focusing distance on that model is 4.9 ft., perhaps they mean simply to use it at 300mm?

Ya I am not sure. The way the doc is written and other stuff I have read suggest there is some button or something that I press to get it into Macro mode... (?)

Read the reviews. Some are good. Some are bad. In the end, you will make your own decisions.

I tested the lens, found it to hunt for focus points, a bit soft on the focus (not sharp). On the other hand, it is very inexpensive; and you get what you pay for.

I did end up buying this one, I was just trying to figure out if you can take macro shots with it. (How to put it in that 'mode' as the documentation states)

Your camera has a close-up mode - the "flower" on the knob with the M (manual) AV (aperture) etc. I don't think your lens is a specialty macro lens, so I don't think it will have a "macro" setting. Don't have any Canon equipment, so I'm just reading website info.

Macro focus depends entirely upon the lens and not the camera. The flower on the lens shows only the minimun focusing distance of that lens. Most of the time "macro" refers to very close focusing lenses in the range of several inches, not feet, this allows you to get some amount of magnification of the subject.

I had an earlier version of this lens and it is good to use for all around shooting but I found it somewhat limiting in MY style of shooting which is often available light meaning low shutter speeds meaning I couldn't use it all that often at 300mm. That and the smaller apertures I found to be limiting as well for the same reason.
