You may view the entries in the Competition thread or all together here: -- October Contest Entries (http://www.pbase.com/shadepuppy/oct_competition__retouchprocom)

Voting is open to all RetouchPro members.

Post your choices (in this thread) for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd by listing the member's name. If you want to explain your reasons, please do.

Vote for the 3 entries you like the best - you might consider how well a photo captures your attention, how well it deals with the subject, how well it fits with the chosen theme, how well the technical details are handled -- lighting, composition, sharpness, etc., -- you are the judge of what appeals to you and what is important to you in an image and the subject category.

Votes will be weighted to give greater weight to First Place votes than to Second and greater weight to Second than to Third place votes. When you place a vote for First Place, that entry will receive four (4) points; when you place a vote for Second, that entry will receive two (2) points, and a vote for Third Place will receive one (1) point.

1. Entry X (their name) - First Place
2. Entry A (their name) - Second Place
3. Entry C (their name) - Third Place

This voting thread is now open and will close close Tuesday October 30th at midnight (EDT).

The winner will be notified and will choose a subject for the November competition. Since we had a tie for first last month [Gary Richardson and ejk (Liz)], we already have one subject chosen for November, and the winner of the October competition will provide a second choice for the November competition.

OK, looks like the countdown on my Calendar worked, and I've remembered to vote this time.

1st CJ Swartz I was looking for an activity shot when I chose this topic because I generally don't take those kind of shots myself. You can just see the joy in the Jack Russell as it leaps off the end of the pier into the pond in CJ's picture.

2nd Mystical One Liked the unusual framing, it drew my eyes through to the mountains behind, very nice.

3rd ejk The guy sat on a park bench is just so typical of the sights you see in just about any park the world over.
This one's sat in Vancouver, but he could just as well have been in my own local park.

ejk, great candid.
mystical one, great creativity.
scubamargie, again great creativity.

enjoyed myself; but with no real park here in our town, i had to make do with the next best gathering point. and at this time of year, it is where all of the great fall leaves are turning. title me: sorry, no park. :)

thanks for the challenge.

I have trouble voting for anyone when I've included an image myself.
Therefore I'll have to exclude myself this time, and good luck to all who have entered this challenge.

2 - Janet Petty - The colours and shapes of the trees got me.

Scenes from a park is a very broad theme and can be interpreted in lots of ways. Some very good entries here, well done everyone who entered.

1: Mystical One- love the unique framing
2: CJ Swartz. Cute
3: Gary Richardson- love the peaceful feel of this picture. I sure could sit there all day.

ejk- looks like a nice place to cool down on a hot day.
Janet Petty- love the colours

1. Oct Cont-GaryRichardson.jpg

I like the way the two trees in the foreground frame the scene behind them and the feeling of "I'd like to be there" I get.

2. DogPark-CJSwartz.jpg

Nice action shot. I have a dog who does this, but not as easy to capture in the shade around the creek. The second dog adds some interest and encourages eye movement.
