Hi,

Has anybody had experience using different types of paper when making prints? The last time I was looking at paper I noticed that Kodak offers a variety of textured papers. I was wondering if they could be used create photo prints with a different look.

I have used the canvas paper and I don't remember the brand. I had great results and everyone thinks the pictures are paintings....funny but true! :)

I haven't tried anything out of the norm but t-shirt transfer paper and although it printed well, I wasn't as impressed with the looks of the transfer vs silk screening. You got to becareful in the ironing process. It seems to last quite a long time and through numerous washings though since the transfer was done about 3 years ago on a new t-shirt that has now become a work shirt but the transfer is still going strong.
I am seriously considering trying the textured paper after what Jill said. Sounds great. I would love to add canvas look to my printings other than applying a texture filter from Photoshop.

If you try it, let us know what you think about it. Also the brand name, and anything else that might be pertinent. I haven't tried anything out of the norm, but it sounds interesting. When I was shooting weddings, I would sometimes have a nice large print made on canvas. They really looked impressive, and I just wonder how the canvas paper would compare.

That is one of the pictures I did on canvas...a wedding party, and they loved it. I think it was Avery paper...very thick but went thru the printer no problem.

A staggering array of papers (and other things) can be printed on if your printer has two things: a straight-through printing path (or a bypass option that allows a straight-through path), and a paper thickness adjustment of some sort (my Epson 1270 has a lever on the right-hand side, under the cover).

Ed, I have 3 framed canvas prints on my wall (no glass) and have had no fading in two years....amazingly so. The colors are great :) That is the extent of my knowledge! Oh, I use a h/p deskjet 952c printer.

Sounds like you had some good results with the canvas. I checked Avery out. They also offer watercolor, leather, pebble, and corduroy. That's quite an assortment.

I have some nice images of my grand children and would like to make up something special for my daughter. It sounds like the canvas might be what I'm looking for.
