I've just started trying out green screen background portraits and I am unsatisfied with the approaches available in CS3. Has anyone tried any of the other plugins or stand-alones (such as Vertus FluidMask 3) and what's the consensus as to the best way to easily knockout a green screen? The tools in CS3 are reasonably okay -- they're just not dead-bang knock-out simple.

I have done some of that, found that the lighting on the background is just as important as the method being used to extract if not even more so.

Even lighting, not to bright, model well off the bg so as not to have any reflections or spill from it, all very important.

i am having the same problem as you are. at one time you could find many programs that did an amazing job, I used to have a program that worked amazingly well, and very fast, but then i broke the cd, and the company is no longer. So im also on the quest to find a perfect solution. Primatte is ok, corel is ok too, but they just dont cut it for me, I know there is something outthere better. lol

Haven't you tried Mask Pro? It's Magic Brush can do a very good job, providing the keep and drop colors, or, rather, color sets are chosen correctly. They also have the decontamination option that should help to remove the color spill.
