I do not want to still Gerry's thunder, but I thought I should try to keep our creative minds rolling.

Check out www.russellrutherford.com to begin.

I will leave the hows and whys to you all, but look forward to posting something when I get off this horrid Army PC.

Good Luck

AJ

HEEEEY....i don't own the title, but you could try to use something else?! my title and my post with it it has my ideas surrounding the photographers pictures and workflow! You are only looking for the how and the whys as you explained it yourself...

I use photographers that people have heard about before and even mentioned here at RetouchPRO ... I can't say I've heard about russel rutherford...ever...

and to say, his style, is not even spectacular it's good, but it doesn't compete with mr hill or mrs greenberg!

Regardless, it is a great photograph and subjects are well captured.

OP: Thank you for sharing the links. I have added them to my list of favorites and photos to study from.

I reckon it has something to do with the fact that, when you ask for something to know about Dave Hill it's interest in the photographer and his mystic ways.

When he asks something about a different photographer he only wants to know about the "how and what".

To me that sort of likes the same thing to be honest......

Just because you don't know the photographer makes his quest for knowledge not any worse or better than your own. No need to belittle people for trying to figure out the same sort of thing that you're trying to figure out as well.

Tiapan: I respect people with opinions, and not people who merely laughs of others! So next time you want to stand from a distance and laugh, just be sure you do it towards people who don't write back!

DJ: well, to my defence I did write that I don't own the title and have no power or intention to do so! I just wanted to express my feelings when it comes to how people try to get info on a workflow/technique or a discussion surrounding workflow/techniques. I see this as two different things! If you read my threads it contains my idea around the techniques and a brief example of how I would think it would be! And look how many people who have engaged in the discussion of the dave hill thread? Do you think that has to do with me just asking for the how's and why's? I don't...
I don't copy titles, due to respect for other writes...but, hey...I don't expect anybody to give respect!

gerry let it go. It's no big deal. AJ liked the title because he knew the others were getting responses. We all have areas we are exploring and learning from others.

Tai: Why this arrogant tone? If you CAN read English, please read my last post above one more time!

sky: I understand that, and I'm not angry with anyone...I just wanted to say my opinion about this. I'll keep away from this in the future...

Stop embarrassing yourself, u're drowning in ridicule. here's my opinion.

Can we start at the beginning? AJ desired feedback on www.russellrutherford.com. I too like their look, but have little idea how it was achieved.

I really enjoyed the work on the website. Reminded me of my athletic days mostly but I really like the way the images felt.

alright this is getting retarded...I am just going to start a new thread on this. I don't want people that actually search this to get turned off and go another direction. I appreciate everyones support in what I was trying to do.

I'd attach the link into the new russell and rutherford link but I don't know how. Didn't teach us this fancy stuff in the army :P

Style: RussellRutherford <--will be the new thread title, photo retouching.

Thanks again,

Johnson

I love Hill & Greenburg, but you are totally out to lunch on this one.

You need to relax a little.

Some amazing stuff!

The problem with analyzing them is that they really don't stick to one defined style. Some of their stuff has a look of HDR (perhaps HDR from 1 RAW), while other stuff does not.

Its a bit of a mixed bag... a really nice mix, tho.
