I have a photo of a group of musicians and I need to have one of them stand out, I've been asked not to blur the others so I'm open to suggestions on how to make one stand out from the others. Any suggestions?

You could turn the image to grayscale except for the one you want to stand out who would remain in color.

Mmmm... How 'bout making a selection of the "start" musician and copy to his own layer. Then on a dupe of the original photo below, run a curves or levels and darken the others. Perhaps add a little touch of texture to them. Making a cast shadow of the star below his layer would also help define him.

sorry I forgot to mention it's a B&W to start with.
I'll give that a try Swampy.

Maybe I could put a spotlight on him.

I masked the band member, adjusted curves to make him stand out better, then I put a spottlight on him. I don't know why I didn't think of the spotlight before. It was obvious to highlight a band member you use a spotlight. Thanks for your help sometimes I need a sounding board.
