Doug,

Maybe just me, but I like to know where people are, literally. When they sign up, they can just say, "North America," "Europe," whatever. I'd like to know, because I'm fascinated by the reach of the Internet, and by your Website. Basically, I like to know who I'm talking to. Where they are tells me a lot, not only about them, but about the worldwide scope of photo retouching.

Location should be a required field when someone signs up.

The reach of the Internet is indeed amazing and I agree that it's interestiing to know someeones location for the reasons you cited.

The good news is anyone who so chooses can update their location in the Control Panel dialog.

Thanks, DannyR. What I'm saying is, giving a location should *not* be a choice. It should be required. Where's the harm in that? Make it as general or as specific as you want. Just a continent would be fine. A nickname hides your identity, so that security issue is resolved. Maybe I'm missing something, here.

As it is, most of the time I'm dealing with a disembodied entity, a nickname. I'd like to at least know where this nickname resides. I guess that's just me.

You wouldn't believe the amount of venomous email I get simply because I require email verification or typing in those squiggly letters to prove you're not a script. One more requirement and no one would register at all (or they'd just type in rubbish, which would be worse than nothing at all). A space is there for those who want to share. Consider those who don't mysterious, and therefore more attractive :)

Thanks, Doug. I don't want to add to your troubles. Obviously, this is the "something" I was missing.
